Devon Francis
Devon is a Master Brewer with over 25-years’ experience brewery operations. During this time, he has had a front row seat in the world beer styles and beer creation. After leaving college, he started his professional brewing career in the 1990s as a junior Brewer at Red Stripe, then operated by Diageo plc. He worked under the guidance of the local Brewmasters before embarking on his formal brewing education at the University of Wisconsin. He would later become the resident Red Stripe Brewer, with product management responsibilities for international franchise brands Heineken and Guinness. He further studied brewing at the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD), becoming the first Jamaican accredited Master Brewer.
Over the years, Devon has played major roles in the beer science locally, designing recipes and creating several beer innovations. He is credited with having created and brewed the first 10% alcohol stout in the Caribbean. In 2012, Devon took his craft to Africa, where he headed the brewing operations for the Diageo’s Seychelles Breweries Limited for a 3-year assignment. There he carved out another set of beer innovation before returning to Red Stripe in 2015 as Head of Supply operations and Master Brewer. At Clubhouse Brewery, Devon will bring his years of experience and honing of his craft to the creation of a variety of tasty beers to satisfy the discerning beer palette.
